FAQs

Why Use Us?

Yes, anyone can point a camera and press record. However when using Lasting Legacies, you get a high-quality production value that is constantly upgrading and changing to preserve itself better in every shape and form so every video biography is ready to look and sound amazing well into the future. We are committed to using the latest video and audio technology ,studio-quality lighting, and up to date editing software. In doing so this makes us the only choice to make your video biography a gift to pass down, for ancestry or family tree, and to stand the test of time online.

Is it expensive?

Compared to other video production companies, which average between $1,500-$3,000+, we are confident that our prices are extremely cost-effective and a fantastic value for the service and quality we provide. You will be getting a high-quality video that uses multiple lights, both lapel and on-camera microphones, and 4K cameras. We essentially create a mobile video recording studio in your home. After filming, an additional 50-60 hours are spent editing the footage.

How long does it take?

This will ultimately vary on how long you want to film, and how long you want the finished product to be. Expect approximately a half hour set up before the actual interview. For a 2 hour project, expect 3 hours of us being with you. For all the editing and making the finished product, it takes us anywhere from 50-60 hours of audio and video editing, depending on how many extra photos and videos you want included.

How much is edited? Do I have input?

We keep editing down to a bare minimum. We try to not edit out any moment of the interview unless asked otherwise. You can give as much or as little input as you’d like! Want something specific? We can make it happen. Despite our experience in film and editing, it’s not about our distinct style, it’s about making the perfect life biography for you and with you.

I’m only in my 30’s, am I too young?

Absolutely not! Life is wild and unexpected, and to leave a lasting mark behind at any age is great. I have friends and family who have lost loved ones early in life, and only wish they had a video or in depth look into who they were to remember and cherish them. To do one early, and to add to it every few years or major milestones to capture your life further as you grow is an amazing option.

My Loved One doesn’t share or talk much, how do you get around that?

This is a very common question, but a good one! Well, it’s my job to get people to talk about themselves and tell stories. You’d be surprised at the stories people will tell to a stranger. In almost all cases, I’ve gotten to coax out and hear stories that the spouse/children/grandchildren have never or rarely heard, and then be able to share that with them in the video.
